二、自我效能感理论简介

自我效能感是美国心理学家班杜拉1977年提出的,他认为自我效能感是“个体对自己组织、执行获取特定目标活动的能力的信念或信心”。自我效能感不是一种技能也不是个体的真实能力,而是个体对完成特定任务所具有的行为能力的自信程度。

一般来说,自我效能感具有下列功能:一是自我效能感影响个体的行为趋向和目标选择,即个体选择哪种活动取决于他对面临的各种活动的自我有效感;二是自我效能感会影响个体在从事目标活动中所花费的努力和面对逆境的坚持性,高自我效能感会使个体在活动中付出更多的努力并持之以恒直至实现活动目标,而低自我效能感的人稍遇挫折便怀疑自己的能力甚至半途而废;三是自我效能感通过归因影响个体的认知:高自我效能感的人会把成功归因于自己的能力强、把失败归因于努力不够,而低自我效能感的人会把成功归因于运气好、把失败归因于自己能力不够,这些不同的认知进而又影响个体的动机水平;四是自我效能感影响个体的情绪反应,从而又影响其后继行为。

自我效能感的影响因素主要包括个体成败经验、替代经验(观察学习、示范、模仿)、身心状态和他人的言语劝说等几种因素。个体成绩经验是最强大的自我效能感信息来源。个体的成功经验越多,其知觉到的自我效能感就越强。同时,当个体观察到与自己情况相似的人成功能够自我效能感就会提高,而看到与自己类似的人失败,自我效能感就会降低。情绪状态也影响人的自我效能感,如人在焦虑、抑郁或悲伤时的自我效能感就不像在情绪状态积极、心境好时那样高。另外,个体常会从他人那里接收到一些说服信息。如果这些信息是积极的,就可能提高其自我效能感。当然,这些信息不是直接影响个体的自我效能感,而是通过个体的认知间接地影响其自我效能感。个体在评价自我效能感时会权衡各种因素并将它们结合起来以形成自我效能感。

三、自我效能感理论对中职教学的启示

自我效能感理论的研究成果启示我们,提高自我效能感是改善学生自我认识和学习状况的前提。因此,为了改善中职生自我效能感低、学习效率不佳的现状,广大中职英语教师在日常教学要努力做到以下几点:

1. 因材施教,使每一位学生获得学习的成功体验。

个体成败经验是自我效能感的最重要的影响因素。苏霍姆林斯基说过:“学习愿望的源泉,就在于进行紧张的智力活动并体验到取得胜利的欢乐。”“只要两三个月里不能看到自己脑力劳动的成果,他的学习愿望就会消失。”鉴于中职生的英语自我效能感水平与年级、性别和英语成绩水平都有着极显著的相关,中职英语教师应该针对每个学生的不同特点区别对待、因材施教,使他们都尽可能地受到最适合的教育,得到最大限度的发展,享受到成功的欢乐。惟有如此,才能提高学生,特别是弱科生的自我效能感,形成较强的学习兴趣,不断提高学习成绩。

2. 树立典型榜样,教育学生要善于悦纳自我、合理比较。

一、“自我效能感”理论概述

自我效能感 (self - efficacy ),是美国心理学家班杜拉 A. Bandura. 1977提出的概念,是指一个人对自己在某一活动领域中的操作能力的主观判断或评价。在“自我效能感”理论中,班杜拉将期望分为“结果期待”和“效能期待”两种。“结果期待”是指人对自己的某一行为会导致某一结果(强化)的推测。如果人预测到某一特定行为将会导致特定的结果(强化),那么这一行为就可能被激活和受到选择。例如,学生们感到上课注意听讲就会获得他们所希望取得的好成绩,他们就有可能认真听课。“效能期待”是指人对自己能够进行某一行为的实施能力的推测或判断,它意味着人是否确信自己能够成功地进行带来某一结果的行为,当确信自己有能力进行某一活动,他就会产生高度的“自我效能感”,并会去进行那一活动。例如,学生不仅知道注意听讲可以带来理想的成绩,而且还感到自己有能力听懂教师所讲的内容时,才会认真听课。学生的自我效能感越高,他们确立的目标越大,为实现这一目标所付出的努力也越大,同时这一努力过程维持的时间也越长。现在,不少实验成果已充分证明了这一点。

二、中职英语教学的现状需要“自我效能感”理论

英语课是中等职业技术学校学生的主要文化课之一,中职学生的英语水平是衡量其综合素质的重要标准。搞好中职英语教学工作,对提高中职学生的综合素质和专业能力及他们未来的发展有着很大的作用。

近几年来,随着招生政策的改革和普通高校的扩招,全国各地普通高中也随之扩大了招生人数,使得中等职业学校生源质量明显下降。中等职业学校已名副其实的无门槛招生。以我校为例,大部分职高学生入学总成绩在200分左右,而英语单科的平均成绩只有50多分,可以说,现在的职高学生英语学业成绩只相当于初中一年级学生的水平。又以2006级旅游班为例,该班入学时英语个人最高分为72分,全班平均分为42分。因为他们对老师讲的、书上写的基本能读懂的只有一小部分,在学习英语的过程中找不到任何乐趣,所以他们对英语学习缺乏兴趣,根本就不想学也学不好。有一些学生在老师和家长的思想教育下很想学,但实在听不懂老师讲什么,看不懂教材上说的是什么;另外,有一部分学生根本就不想学,干脆不听课,一上英语课,他们就坐在座位上发呆。这样,我们的英语课堂教学不仅没有给学生带来乐趣,反而成为了他们的一种负担。我想这也不应该是我们的教学目标,但现实就是这样,本人在中职英语教学工作第一线从教多年,对这种教学现状感到十分困惑。

造成这种状况的原因是有很多方面的。根据辩证唯物主义理论,任何事物的发展都是由内因和外因两个方面共同作用完成的,内因是事物发展的根本原因,外因是通过内因而作用于事物的存在和发展,加速或延缓事物的发展进程,但不能改变事物的根本性质和发展的基本方向。所以,内因是第一位的,外因是第二位的。由此可见,中职学生出现上述现状最主要的原因来自学生的内部即学生自己英语学习的“自我效能感”的丧失。因此,中职学生英语学生需要“自我效能感”理论,也需要教师相应地在教学中积极采取适应或激发学生“自我效能感”的教学方法与手段。

三、在中职英语教学中培养学生“自我效能感”的主要策略

“自我效能感”的形成或改变,根据研究成果表明有以下四个主要因素:成功经验、替代性经验、生理和情感激活、言语劝说。如果我们教师把影响和改变“自我效能感”的重要因素作为突破口,即根据这些因素,培养、提高学生的“自我效能感”;那么就能让学生们有兴趣听英语课、听得进去英语课、听英语课有收获。在教学中可以从以下四个方面入手:

1.创造实在的成功快乐体验来提高学生的“自我效能感”

班杜拉认为:学习者成功的经验会提高“自我效能感”,失败的经验会降低“自我效能感”。职中生的英语基础普遍较薄弱,学习上屡遭挫败使他们对学习产生了畏难情绪,甚至厌学。要改变学生学业上的不良心理,提高学习兴趣,首先要使学生体验学习上的成功。在教学中,学生只有能听懂才有可能用心听课,积极参与课堂学习。因此,教师要根据学生的实际降低教学难度并改进教学方式,实行“小步子,缓坡度,勤反馈,多活动”的教学方式和课堂组织形式,使学生在取得的学习成绩中能体验学习的乐趣并积极参与教学活动。

“小步子”就是根据学生的实际水平和教学内容,确定适宜的教学进度,使学生学一点、会一点,而不是单纯为完成教学任务而赶进度。“缓坡度”就是根据学生的认知规律和知识结构将知识分解为不同的知识层级,由易到难,循序渐进。如学习现在完成进行时,先巩固现在时、现在完成时、现在进行时,再过渡到现在完成进行时,这样,既帮助学生巩固了基础知识,又为新知识的输入排除了障碍。“勤反馈”就是通过提问、检查,了解学生对语言知识掌握和运用的情况,对学生学习过程中的问题、困惑给予及时的帮助和辅导,避免问题积累。“多活动”就是根据教学内容,组织形式多样的课堂活动。课堂上时而教师讲授,时而学生讨论;有时还搞点小竞赛,分角色表演等活动给学生派送奖品,让每个学生在语言实践活动中都有机会展示自己、发现自己,并体验着学习英语的快乐。

除此之外,还可以用改革评价形式,让学生感受成功的快乐,提高教学效率。通过评价,使学生在英语学习过程中不断体验进步与成功,认识自我,建立自信。因此我采用了多样化的评价形式,既关注结果也关注过程,实行平时课堂表现评价与期末检测成绩相结合、口试听力测试与笔试相结合,自我评价、小组评价与教师评价相结合,平时成绩与期末成绩各占总评成绩的50%。通过试验,效果明显。最近我对所教几个班作了一次调查,上课基本能听懂的学生占90%,对英语感兴趣的学生占85%,上学期期末考试的合格率为85%。

2.丰富学生的替代性学习体验来发展学生的“自我效能感”

通过观察榜样而得到替代性体验,是发展和提高学生的自我效能信念的有效途径。实际上,我们每一个读书学习的过程都是一个积累替代性学习经验的过程。但是中职学生的问题在于他们不肯主动积累。所以为中职学生提供替代性学习体验,最好的方式就是同学中的榜样示范。要让学生们从同学的示范中获得“其实这些我也能”的自我评价结论。在中职学校有相当多学生是不愿意读人物对话的,这时,老师可以先请一个水平和他们相当的学生进行“示范”与老师读人物对话,然后再鼓励他们尝试,或者让学习水平相当而较为开朗的同学带着他们完成。这时,他们很可能就很乐意参与其中。此外,我很喜欢请英语说得比较好的学生与我示范如何游戏、如何进行对话、还有示范做练习等。效果都比过去我一个人在讲台上独自示范和解释要好。

3.建立快乐的学习氛围来唤醒学生的“自我效能感”

人的情绪唤醒也能影响“自我效能感”,不好的情绪会降低“自我效能感”,反之,愉快的情绪则会提高“自我效能感”。因此,我很注重快乐的课堂氛围的营造,首先,教师要面带笑容去上课。并在教学中,穿插一些游戏或歌曲,这既是教学的一种手段,也让学生体验到了学习的快乐。让学生觉得在课室里学习也是一种享受,学习效果明显提高。其次在英语教学中,还可以融入一些西方文化风情的内容,如圣诞节学唱颂歌,开圣诞“派对”,用英文写圣诞卡等活动,通过这些活动让学生们感受到英语可以带给他们语言及课本知识以外的见识和快乐。这种情绪的影响可以帮助学生提高“自我效能感”,并使他们对英语学习产生了热爱。

4.通过教师的良好期望和正确的言语评价来激发学生的“自我效能感”

教师的期待能激发学生的潜能。在教学中,教师对学生的态度和期望会自觉不自觉地表现出来,使学生获得不同的感受,进而影响他们的学习情绪。中职生在初中阶段大多数为班上的中下等生,这些学生更需要老师的鼓励和关怀,他们的学习积极性和自信心需要教师的培养,更需要教师对他们抱有信心和期望。我们为师的要经常以激励的言语来启迪他们的潜能,肯定他们的进步。因此,在教学中,教师可以通过面部表情、语言鼓励给予学生积极的期待,使学生克服紧张与不安,大胆参与语言实践,充分表现自我。其次,教师要对学生的表现做出中肯的评价,因为教师的评价中常包含了对学生能力的判断。积极的评价会使学生增强自我效能,消极的评价会贬低自我效能,因此,要多给学生以鼓励和赞扬。特别是对那些学业失败的学生,他们在学习上已失去了动力和热情,这时老师对他的鼓励就成了他重新振作的唯一希望。因此,教师除了要引导学生对自己的学习成败作适当归因之外,也要在语言上避免因为评价不当而使学生强化了错误的归因。要通过鞭策与鼓励,使学生勇于克服困难,勤奋学习、提高学习效率,争取学业上的进步。

当然,中职学生的英语教学是一项系统工程,需要学校合理的管理、教师正确的引导、家庭良好的影响和学生自身的努力共同完成。如果只是增强了学生的“自我效能感”而忽视学校管理或疏于家庭的配合,优秀的中职英语教学效果是不会出来的。但是,在这里特别强调学生“自我效能感”的作用及其教师的教学应用,也是十分必要的和切实可行的。
