针对上述情况, 笔者在本学期大胆尝试了在课前进行5分钟小演讲的活动。通过小演讲活动, 学生的兴趣得到了培养, 信心得到了增强, 技能得到了提升, 英语水平显著提高。具体做法如下:

首先, 我从班中选出英语水平较好的十几名学生, 给他们排好序, 并提前告知演讲时间, 以便于学生做好心理准备, 并保证有充足的时间准备演讲材料。这样做, 学生学习的主动性和积极性明显提高。

其次, 关于演讲内容, 教师不应做太多的限制, 只要是励志、阳光、传递正能量的都可以。

学生可以自由谈论学校小环境中关于同学或教师的趣闻、八卦, 也可以谈论大环境中国家乃至世界正在发生的关于政治、经济、军事、科学等各种话题。这样, 学生就能根据自己的兴趣进行选题, 实施起来就会少很多顾虑, 但必须强调, 选题之后必须用自己的语言组织内容进行演讲。

再次, 关于演讲形式, 学生可以借鉴所学经典句型或借题发挥, 可以随心所欲挑选话题, 但绝不容许背诵短文故事。

按照以上原则, 我组织学生开始实施, 在第一轮活动结束后, 效果竟大大超出了我的预料———刚开始时, 学生表现得十分紧张, 站在讲台上甚至不敢正视自己的同学, 声音也比较低, 体态很不自然, 与同学之间没有互动, 可以看出, 演讲的学生只盼能尽快结束演讲。显然, 一开始, 演讲变成了学生的负担, 变成了干巴巴的背诵材料, 在学生的认知里, 它是一项任务。但随着活动的进一步开展, 在更多的学生尝试后, 慢慢地, 情况开始好转, 后面的学生从前者身上看到不足后, 便不再满足于类似的演讲。有几个思维灵活且较能驾驭语言的学生开始尝试着表达自己的感受, 于是, 演讲所用的语言变得生动起来, 演讲者的表情也越来越丰富, 与同学之间的互动活动也有了, 甚至增加了有意而为之的煽情, 演讲内容开始升华。很显然, 学生的演讲不再是简单地讲述一个小故事, 而是试着从故事中升华出关乎人生的哲学。

人们总是由于对第一印象的信任,而宁肯忽视后来的印象。尽管我们理直气壮地讲:“不要以书的表面来判断其内容。”但是不可否认,全世界范围内人人都在这么做,包括我们自己。别人在根据我们的外表和举动判断我们所包含的内容;我们也通过观察别人的外表,包括长相、身材、服装、言语、声调、动作等等来判断他们。

我们是如何进行这样的判断呢?55%取决于你的外表,包括服装、个人面貌、体形、发色等;38%是自我表现,包括你的语气、语调、手势、站姿、动作、坐姿等等;只有7%才是你所讲的真正内容。心理学家还发现,当我们走进一个陌生的环境,人们立刻靠直觉给你进行至少十条总结:你的经济条件、教育背景、社会背景、你的精明老练度、你的可信度、婚否、家庭出身、成功的可能性、年龄、艺术修养、健康状态等等。我们常听人讲:“一看他就知道他是一个什么样的人”,这就是第一印象。人們普遍喜欢那些穿着得体,为人热情、友好、宽厚、祥和的人,而厌恶那些穿着破衣烂衫,表现得缺乏修养,尖刻、好战、征服欲望强烈、自私自利的人。
