我认为英语学习其实和很多门功课一样,有兴趣最好,没有兴趣,把症结找到,自然也会打通道路,产生兴趣。
我的英语兴趣或者说叫“突破口”,是从发音开始的。因为从小喜欢感知电视节目或磁带的中文朗读和歌曲旋律,有较强的正音和模仿欲望,体现在英语学习上则是从初中一开始接触到英语,就买了磁带,在家一遍遍地听,并且要求自己按照磁带来发音。喜欢模仿,乐在其中。久而久之,不仅培养了语感,熟悉了句型,而且从音标开始打下了良好的发音基础,此后由简入难也越来越顺畅了。值得一提的是,初中时班上的两个好朋友对我的英文,尤其是发音方面的影响是功不可没的。一个是美式发音,一个是英式发音,由于经过专门训练,她们都说得非常标准。在暗暗佩服之余,我潜移默化地学会了发音的腔调和流利地表达,提升了自己对学习英语的要求。

另外需要强调的是,语法是学好英语的关键之一,听说读写无一不涉及到语法。只有把语法应用纯熟,才能有提高和扩展的空间。我的语法学习经验就是:上好每一堂课、消化老师当天讲解的知识点,理解最重要。配合练习检验自己的学习效果可以买些参考书,比如当时我上初中的时候就买过一些英语报刊,这些刊物信息量很大,语法点讲解得很详细,令我受益匪浅。拓展知识面、深化知识点,日积月累,当扎实的语法系统一点点地建立起来,再经常进行听说训练,你会发现自己已经可以表达很多比较复杂的句型和意思,会很有成就感,英语的学习道路也越走越远,越走越宽广了。

为了进一步熟练Who’s...?What is your father?句型, 我让学生每人画一幅家庭成员的画, 然后四个同学一组, 相互看画交流学习。学生相互询问, 相互作答, 你一言, 我一语, 兴致勃勃地用英语表达自己的情感。绘画可以丰富学生的感情经验, 为形成概念、发展智力创造条件, 使其不通过母语直接学习英语, 从而达到易学、易记、易用的目的。绘画教学所追求的效果是寓学于乐, 让学生在轻松愉快的气氛中直接运用英语思维。
五、让学生在模仿中“动”起来
小学生好动且有着极强的模仿能力, 英语课堂上, 我们如果能充分发挥孩子们的模仿能力, 会收到事半功倍的效果。
例如教学26个英语字母, 我让学生模仿字母的形状, 用身体摆成与字母相似的形态, 把一个个枯燥的、呆板的字母活灵活现地演绎出来, 激发了学生极大的学习兴趣, 整个课堂气氛活跃起来。又如教学“animals”时, 我一边教学动物名称的单词, 一边让学生模仿各种动物的叫声和动作, 边动边说: “duck, duck, quack, quack;cat, cat, mew, mew... 学生学得意趣盎然, 我也教得轻松自如。学生通过模仿动物滑稽的形态, 发出惟妙惟肖的叫声, 就联想到了这种动物, 英语名称自然也就记住了。
会话教学中, 我常让学生分角色“说话”, 要求他们根据自己所充当的角色, 模仿人物的语音语调, 说出感情色彩。例如充当father的学生, 说话时声音要粗壮点, 充当grandma的学生, 说话时声音要缓慢点, 充当sister的学生, 说话的声音要轻快点。同时要求他们把人物的喜、怒、哀、乐等不同情感, 通过语音、语调和动作、表情流露出来。这样学生不但在模仿中学到了英语知识, 而且体会到了真正的语言———带情感的语言。
六、让学生在吟诵中“动”起来
生动活泼、通俗易懂、节奏欢快的英语韵律歌谣, 既丰富了小学英语课堂教学模式, 又为小学英语教学内容注入了新鲜的血液。上课前, 先让学生声情并茂地朗诵一首英语韵律歌谣或者让学生打着节拍、做着动作, 吟唱一首生动活泼、节奏明快的英语歌谣, 可以帮助学生尽快进入最佳学习状态, 精神饱满地投入到英语课堂学习中。Chant对新课的教授很有帮助, 如我们编写了一则Chant教学数和学习用品:
One pencil, two pencils, three pencils, four.
Five pencils, six pencils, seven pencils, more.
Eight pencils, nine pencils, ten pencils, no more!
我们还可以把不同的数字和不同的新单词套进这一则Chant中 , 以旧律带新知 , 化难为易。英语课本上也有很多Chant, 我们可以利用课本上的Chant, 学习不同的新单词和新句型, 寓知识于娱乐中, 进行愉快教学。如教学方位词时, 我们就运用了课本上的Let’s chant:
North, south, east, west, east, west,
North, south, east, west, east, west,
Up and down and right and left,
North, south, east, west, east, west.
小学生的注意力容易分散, 学习的自觉性和自控能力较差, 在英语学习中, 单纯地死记硬背, 会使他们感到厌烦。诗歌和歌谣的韵律能帮助儿童从开始就逐渐体会到英语语感, 降低学习难度, 提高学习信心。让英语课堂在Chant的吟诵中“动”起来, 让学生学习英语的温度“升”起来。
总之, 要让英语课堂充满活力, 教师就一定要想办法把课堂变成学生乐于学习的场所, 让学生在课堂上充分“动”起来, 学得有滋有味、有声有色, 让学生乐于学英语、善于学英语, 真正成为英语学习的小主人; 而且教师要善于抓住一切可以利用的因素, 巧妙地运用多种多样的教学方法和生动有趣的教学手段, 让学生“动”起来, 让英语课堂“动”起来。让学生在学习中体验到参与的乐趣, 并在活动中树立克服困难、夺取胜利的信心, 真正享受到成功的快乐。这样, 英语教学才更具科学性, 更加符合语言学和儿童心理发展规律, 从而提高教学有效性, 这才是真正意义上的英语课堂教学。
