第一步：芝加哥的人口为300万，假设每一个家庭平均由4人组成，因为钢琴是昂贵的东西，不可能每户人家都有，其中1／3的家庭拥有自己的钢琴，那么整个城市的钢琴数量为25万架。

第二步：如果一架钢琴每隔5年调音一次，一年便需要调音5万次，现设想一个调音者一天能为4架钢琴调音，一年以250天计算，结果一年可调音1000次。

只需要两个步骤，我们就可以得到一个和正确结果相去不远的数字。
