短文改错是知识和能力的综合测试题，它不仅能较准确地测试学生的语言知识水平，而且能客观地反映学生综合运用语言的能力。该题型对考生英语的综合能力有较高的要求，是难度最大的一个考题，它要求学生判断和改正错误，而这些错误又是一般人在学习英语中最容易犯的，并且很难察觉。在学习中模棱两可、似是而非、一知半解的状况普遍存在。因此，要求考生在系统掌握英语基础知识的前提下，能够将这些知识正确地运用到语言实践中去。这就需要我们不仅掌握词汇、语法方面的语言基础知识，而且要具有在词形、词义、拼写、词语、句型、用法结构、逻辑及语篇方面一定的语言综合能力。

怎样做好此类试题呢?总结几年的教学经验，结合此题型固有的特点，我认为，要抓好英语语言形式方面的基本功的全面培养，包括英语简单句的五种基本句型结构、英语词类的功能等。

纵观历届高考试卷，短文改错中涉及的主要错误有错词、多词、缺词三种。在目前的教学及训练中，我们主要是从这三方面入手的。归纳起来，大体是这样做的。

一、错词

1. 名词。主要指名词的单复数错误。

如:a.The baby is thirsty.Give him some waters.

“water”为物质名词，不可数，无复数形式。

b.The knifes are not in the bag.

应改knifes为knives。

2. 动词。动词的词形错误种类较多，也是日常练习和考查中的重点，我们主要侧重以下方面。

(1) 动词的时态和语态 (主要指行为动词) 的错误。中国学生学习英语, 动词时态是一大难点, 因为汉语本身不存在变化动词本身表达动作所发出的时间和进行的状态的问题。这就要求学生要牢记大纲归纳的8种时态、2种语态。同时, 对于动词时态还必须记住:be+行为动词过去分词, 不一定是被动语态, 有时可能是be+过去分词作表语的结构。如:The window glass is broken.It was broken by my little daughter.前者是过去分词作表语, 表示主语的特点或状态, 后者是动词过去分词的被动语态结构, 表示动作。掌握了这一点, 能有效减少短文改错中的失误。

(2)非谓语动词。非谓语动词包括不定式、动词的-ing形式及动词的过去分词。在短文改错中，判断非谓语的错误，可从以下几点入手。

A.非谓语动词具有动词性质，有时态和语态之分，但不能单独作谓语。

如:a.Maryhavingherhaircut.“having”前应加“is”, 表进行时。

b.The building built in 1980.“built”前应加“was”, 表被动语态。

B.动词的-ing形式, 包括动词的现在分词和动名词。两者的主要区别是:现在分词有形容词性质, 可作定语, 如:runningwater (自来水) ;可作状语, 表伴随动作, 如:She sat in the chair, reading.动名词可作主语和表语, 如:Seeing is believing. (眼见为实) ;可作宾语, 包括动词宾语和介词宾语, 如:He often practices speaking English in the morning. (动宾) ;Thank you for bringing as so many good books. (介宾) 。

C.现在分词和过去分词，二者均可作表语，前者含主动意义，后者含被动意义。如：The film is moving.(电影令人感动)The audince was moved by the film.(观众被感动)。现在分词和过去分词也可作宾补，区别在于：现在分词表示动作正在进行，过去分词表示动作已经完成。

3. 形容词和副词词性错误，主要指比较级和最高级方面的误用。

如：a.She is as taller as Alice.“as...as”句型中的taller应为tall，“as...as”中间要加形容词和副词的原形。

b.This is more expensive in all the dresses.“more expensive”应改为themostexpensive, 因为是三者以上的比较, 应用最高级。

4. 句型结构错误。主要包括固定句型、上下文逻辑关系、反意疑问的附加疑问部分等。

如:a.Each player must obey the captain, who is the leader of the team.But they must not break the rules too much if they want to win the game.

“But”改为And，因为前后两句为并列关系，而非转折关系。

b.It is nice of you help me when I was in trouble.

“help”前加to。It is+adj.+of sb.to do sth.为固定句型。

c.She had to take care of her younger sister, hadn’t she?

此句中的“had to”为实义动词，反意疑问的附加疑问部分应借助动词did，应为didn’t she。

二、多词

多余的可能有：冠词、代词、助动词、介词、小品词to等。

如:a.She is easy to get along with her.

“her”应去掉。句中主语即为短语的逻辑宾语，故其后不能再用代词。

b.She married with Mr.Smith last year.

“with”应去掉，“与……结婚”不加介词。

三、缺词

所缺的词主要有：冠词、代词、介词、连词、助动词、系动词be和小品词to等。

如:a.Make it clear you will accept it or not.

此句缺连词，应在“you”前加whether构成“whether...or not”结构。

b.The chair looks hard but it is comfortable to sit.

“sit”应后加in, it为sit的逻辑宾语，而sit作为不及物动词，接宾语时必须带介词。

c.If you will study harder, you will pass the examination.

时间状语从句或条件状语从句中，主句是一般将来时，从句要用一般现在时表示将来意义，所以此从句中will是多余的，应去掉。

做好了以上这些，还必须注意规范解答。这一点看似细微，但也不可忽视。要严格按照示范，用规定的符号改错，切勿离开文后的10道横线在原文的字里行间勾勾画画、涂涂改改。

以上是我们在日常练习中所侧重的几个方面。由于短文改错是一种相对较新的题型，更好的方法还有待于我们在今后的教学中进一步探索。
