六级作文注意事项
1.避免口语化、简化词
在写作过程中,一定要避免过度使用口语化,或者简单化的词汇。
比如:“购买” 可以说成“purchase”而不是“buy”,因为写作是书面体的文章,过多地使用口语化的词汇不仅与文体不符,还显得考生的词汇量不够。
2.避免词汇重复使用
切忌重复使用单一词汇。
优秀的英语文章是可以用不同的词汇,表达相近的语义,以此反映语义间微妙的差异,比如英语中仅仅表达“好”的意思就有许多种不同说法,pretty / excellent/ perfect / marvelous / wonderful / superior / appealing / good 等等,所以在考试中要注意前文出现的词汇,后面尽量避免反复使用。

笔者结合教学过程中对学生习作的批改经验, 总结出影响学生作文成绩的几个原因。以学生2008年3月份的习作题目“Holding Olympic Games:a Business Activity or a Sports Ceremo ny?”为例, 提纲如下:有的人认为召开奥林匹克运动会已经成为了一种商业行为, 而不再是单纯的体育盛会;有的人认为奥林匹克运动会仍然是全世界的体育盛会, 奥林匹克精神得到了传承与弘扬, 阐述你的观点和看法。笔者具体分析了学生在写作方面的薄弱环节, 具体如下:
通过对学生上交的习作进行详细分析, 总结出学生在写作过程中主要存在如下几个薄弱环节。
一、没有四、六级作文的框架意识和主题意识
无视标题和提纲, 随心所欲地写出一段或是多于三段的文章。有的学生洋洋洒洒地写出五六段两三百字的文章, 可是很多的语言和段落与主题无关。譬如有些学生用大量的篇幅描述奥运会的起源和历史, 有的介绍29届北京奥运会的口号“New Beijing, Great Olympics”, 以及中国政府承诺举办一届高科技有特色的奥运会和所做的努力, 有的还介绍了北京正在为第29届奥运会做哪些整备工作以及进展的状况等。因此, 我们在训练学生写作时, 一定要强调学生要抓住主题, 选择最紧扣主题的信息材料和语言, 以最合乎逻辑的方式安排层次和结构, 让学生在正式下笔之前, 拟好提纲, 整理思路, 使自己的文章结构环环相扣, 层次分明。
二、英语语法基础薄弱, 出现重大的语法错误
这里所说的重大语法错误包括时态、语态的混用, 主谓不一致, 单词词性混用, 以及用词不当等。例如:
1.The 29thperiod Olympic Games will hold in Beijing, China.
2.The Olympic Games has many sport items, such as run, jump, swim and so on.
3.Actually, the Olympic Games is derived from the old Greece.
4.I am afraid that the Olympic spirits will dead.I don’t want this day come true one day.
5.Host a high-level Games is the solemn promise that the Chinese government and people make.
6.The five rings in five colors represent the five continents of the world join in friendship.
以上都是学生习作的原句, 暴露了学生的不同的语法缺陷。例句1, 3是典型的语态的混用, hold应改为be held;is derived from应改为derive from。例句2, 4, 5混用单词词性, 没有考虑句子结构。run, jump swim应该改为动名词running, jumping, swimming;形容词dead应该改为动词词组die out作谓语;host应改为hosting, 构成名词短语作主语。例2中还出现了时态和语态的双重错误, 主谓不一致, 以及用词不当, has应改为have been set up。例句5还出现了时态的错误, make应改为made。例句3还出现了用词不当, old应改为ancient。例句6 join in应改为joined in, 构成过去分词短语作后置定语。
很明显, 这些错误会严重影响得分。我们知道大学英语四六级作文的评分原则是总体评分, 就文章总体印象给分。学生如果犯严重的语言错误, 势必给评卷教师很不好的印象, 得分就自然而然低。因此在大学英语教学中, 强调基础的语法知识是必要的。学生只有掌握基本的语法, 才能写出正确的句子, 从而写出通顺的文章。
三、句式简单缺乏变化, 上下文连接不紧凑, 表达方式不地道
在批改学生的习作时, 笔者发现有些学生的作文句式表达正确, 符合语法规范, 思路也清晰, 但整个文章很枯燥, 缺乏生动性。造成此种现象的原因在于句式和用词太过呆板, 过于重复, 上下文无衔接过渡词汇, 没有承上启下之笔。很多学生在整篇文章中表达个人的观点时, 都是重复多次以第一/三人称为主语的单一句式出现, 譬如“I/they think...”, “I/they believe...”, “I should should do...”, “I/they must do...”。再比如表示转折意思和因果关系时, 不少学生总是不厌其烦地用“but”和“so”。适当的句式变化和用词生动可以使文章润色所以, 在教学过程中, 可以给学生归纳一些常用的表达方式并且要求学生强化记忆, 以便让学生做“有米之炊”。例如:
1.表达自己观点的模式
From my standpoint (viewpoint, point of view) , Personally (frankly) speaking, in my opinion, As far as I am concerned, It can be said with certainty that, I am sure that, I am convinced that, It can be easily proved that, It must be admitted that, It is essential (imperative, indispensable, necessary, important) for us to do..., I am firmly opposed to, I think otherwise, I don’t think so, I disagree, I have every reason to say that, It certainly won’t be right to say that, etc.
2.表达别人的观点
In the view of other people, Some people tend (incline) to believe that, They point out (argue, claim, insist, assert, declare) that, Other people still hold the view that, etc.
3.表达普通或共同的观点
The most widely-held view is, It is generally (universally) thought (believed, considered, acknowledged, recognized, agreed) that, The great majority of the people share the same idea, We are o the same mind, I am of their mind, I can’t agree more, I absolutely (entirely, totally, utterly) agree with them, Generally speaking, etc.
4.因果过渡词
thus, therefore, hence, accordingly, consequently, in view of, because of, due to, owing to, thanks to, on account of, for this reason, for this purpose, on that account, as a result of, in this (that) case, result in, result from, by the reason that, that is why, etc.
5.意思转折过渡词
however, while, whereas, nevertheless, anyhow, anyway, otherwise, instead (of) , rather than, in any case, at any rate, no matter how (what, when) , even so, in spite of, despite, even though, even if, opposite to, on the contrary, etc.
四、没有四、六级作文的内容意识和亮点意识, 缺乏新颖性和创造性
相当一部分学生在作文当中所表现出对事物的认识水平和阅历见解与其年龄和文化程度不相称, 写出的作文着眼点低、视野狭窄。最主要的问题是, 作文中缺乏事例和数据, 经常是大篇幅的说理, 内容空洞无味。另外, 笔者发现少数学生背诵和掌握了不少的作文模板, 语言也比较流畅, 思路清晰, 文章的结构有条有理, 可是缺乏自己独到的见解, 没有闪光点和亮点。仍然以上述习作为例, 有些学生在第一二段中分析得有条有理, 语言也很流畅。可是, 在第三段阐述自己的观点时, 只是轻描淡写地同意了第一种观点, 认为人们把召开奥运会当作一种商业行为, 失去了奥林匹克的精神和意义, 没有阐述任何理由, 也没有新颖或说服力强的例证, 就草草结束行文, 给人“神龙见首不见尾”之感, 不免使文章黯然失色。
以上是笔者多年来通过对学生的四、六级作文进行综合分析总结出的在四、六级作文中普遍存在的问题。希望通过对这些问题的分析, 可以帮助学生提高英语写作水平, 同时对大学英语教学有一定的指导意义。
